Senior Correspondent: Atiqul Islam, Mayor of Dhaka North City Corporation said, I hear about test trade in many hospitals. Doctors should provide real service and not test trade. A patient needs to set an example through service. Repeating the same test, report should be stopped. Necessary tests must be done and unnecessary tests should be avoided.
He said this at the swearing-in ceremony of intern doctors at Uttara Medical College and Hospital in the capital on Thursday (December 8).
Atiqul Islam said, medical services should be spread for marginalized people. We have to be conscious of serving them. The country is moving forward as a result of the hard work and contribution of marginalized people. Their services should be ensured at low cost. Doctors enter the world of human services after wearing a white apron after completing their studies. Human service is the ultimate religion. Becoming a doctor requires a lot of hard work. Talented students become doctors. So people should be served with love and kindness. The patient should be sedated. They should be treated well as well as provide quality service.
Addressing the intern doctors, the mayor said, as advanced medical services are provided in developed countries, we want to ensure advanced medical care in Bangladesh through you. The aim should be to provide quality treatment at low cost. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have been able to successfully deal with the Corona epidemic. He has already appointed many doctors. You will also be a good doctor. Devote yourself to the service of the country.
The mayor also said, “I am not the father of the city, but I am a servant myself.” I am serving the people of the city as a city servant. We have converted DNCC Market into a Covid Dedicated Hospital to treat people during the Corona Pandemic. If we wanted, we could have collected more than 200 crore rupees from the market. But instead of looking at money, we focus on the service of people and cancel the allocation of 258 shops. We have built a 1000 bed hospital. It has 212 ICU beds. The number of corona patients is very less now. Also in this hospital we have started treating dengue patients.
Executive Chairman and Member of Parliament Mahi Badruddoza Chowdhury presided over the oath-taking ceremony of the intern doctors.
